Monitor Technologies’ Flexar® guided wave radar sensor is a continuous level measurement system using Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) principles, where radar pulses are focused down to the material surface by the unit’s wave guide and the time-of-flight of the pulse reflection back to the instrument electronics is directly related to the empty distance in the vessel and the material level. Guided wave radar technology has been proven successful and is an excellent choice for most power and bulk solids applications. Flexar® sensors have been installed on numerous cement, aggregate and fly ash storage silos worldwide and they have consistently provided reliable level measurement and inventory control for these applications.
Benefits of Flexar® include no moving parts for less wear and tear. The employed technology allows the sensor to be virtually unaffected by and reliable in dusty conditions, with no field calibration required to provide easy installation and setup. It also has a universal power supply for high and low voltage options. The Flexar® sensor can also be supplied with a choice of outputs. The analogue 4-20 mA output version can be interfaced to your existing PLC or DCS and the “Smart” RS-485 output version is compatable with the PC-based SiloTrack Inventory Management Software. The SiloTrack software automates level monitoring and report generation, sends email notifications to suppliers or corporate locations and allows for remote viewing of material level inventory.
Other level sensors from Monitor Technologies to be highlighted at WOC 2010 include SiloPatrol® SE “Smart” weight and cable based level sensor and inventory management system, the SafePoint® fail-safe rotary paddle level sensor and more.
